Writing And Revising

Funny, isn’t it, how some short stories or essays come so easily and need little revision. Others can be revised a hundred-and-one times and still, something isn’t quite right.

BUT–no matter how you think that piece shines, put it away for a few days and work on something else. When you revisit it, you’ll see the flaws. And reread it out loud. But not too loud or your family and neighbors will wonder about you.

Especially if there’s a murder scene. 🙂

  1. I tend to tap into my old essays (whenever I feel like) and rejuvenate the experience I had with them, and then edit it to my own satisfaction. Putting away something you have been looking at for days can have a wonderful effect, especially when you pick up something old and excitedly get involved in editing it away. Revision is not a strong forte of mine, I prefer practise. 🙂 Nice to be back! 🙂
